The Call to Create
I’ve heard that economic depression often spurs creativity.
Which is a proverbial way of saying, if people don’t think of a new way to make their lives work, they’ll be out of luck.
In theory, if you apply that observation to our region, Michigan should be one of the most creative states in the country by now. :)
Unfortunately, while the film industry incentives may be helping, I don’t know if the old Mitten is stunning the world with it’s creativity quite yet. But my brother John and I have recently decided to do our part to help it along.
John and his wife, Jill, live about 30 seconds away fro Chuck and I.
When people ask me whether we get along, I tell them about this year’s spring break trip. After Chuck, John, Jill, Justus and I got back from a 20 hour car ride together, they went back to their place to unpack and came back 20 minutes later to have pizza at our house.
I.e. We get along.
Although recently, we’ve decided to get along in a new way.
Since the field of education (which John and I are both in) has been slashed to the financial bone in Michigan over the last few years, we’re branching out a little.
Eight domain names, two conferences with a lawyer and one meeting over appetizers in a local restaurant later, John and I have become business partners.
We’ve landed on an idea model.
The website is in design.
Take that economic downturn.
Creativity. Is. On.
