The Increasingly Brilliant Emperor

A couple updates from the emperor:

  • By wielding his charm at Chuck E. Cheese and his grandparents’ house, the emperor acquired the new subjects below.

  • (FYI, if you’re secretly thinking that it is ridiculous for a child to own a toy in three sizes, it’s okay. We–the chief servants–think so too.)
  • The emperor’s new favorite past time is trying the largest Woody character’s hat on the smaller Woody characters.
  • There is nothing funnier than a tiny character wearing an over-sized hat. NOTHING.
  • In other news, Justus also acquired a set of those foam letters and numbers that stick to the bathtub wall. It is now virtually impossible to take a shower without a stray number “9” or an AWOL letter “Q” sneaking up on your ankle.

  • He is not a pre-2 year old whiz kid yet tho. No Algebraic equations or sonnets spelled out on the shower wall.
  • Instead, the emperor lumps all the letters and numbers into four categories. He resolutely declares each one to be either a “one” “two” “ten” or “B”. There is no in between and to suggest otherwise is a crime.
  • Mom: This is an eight.
  • The Emperor: One!!
  • Mom: Nooooo, this is a one. That is an eight.
  • The Emperor: One!! (Louder)  One!! (Waving the eight in the air, triumphantly.) Onnnnnnnnnnnnne!!
  • Now that he has some grasp of numbers, the Emperor seems to think he is the Nicolas Cage character in American Treasure. I.e. He is charged with deciphering an ancient code embedded throughout the world.
  • Yesterday he discovered that these tiny number-symbols had been secretly engraved onto his baby gate. He carefully moved his index finger along each one, declaring it–after careful study–to be either a “one” “two” or a “ten”.
  • At the park, he discovered a plastic piece which hooks the net to the soccer goal, and declared this figure-eightish shape to be a “B”. Close.
  • In other news, the Emperor attended a ball in honor of his cousin last week. He broke out his good chain mail for the occasion. Pic below.
