A Project From the Story Conference

Last week, press broke that Taylor Lautner (Twilight) and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson had just been cast as David and Goliath for a film project called GOLIATH.

Sounded interesting, right?  You were picturing the adolescent sheep herder looking down on the threatened Israelite encampment…

And then a bounty hunter played by Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson stormed across the screen chasing down Team Jacob from Twilight.

Not the story you know?  Inside Hollywood and many other outlets picked up on the spin in the script too. They suggested this project is less like the familiar Biblical epic and more like a 300-like action script that turns Goliath into a bounty hunter hot on David’s trail.

But save the sighs.  Lovers of the actual Biblical epic, plucked from the Samuels, Kings, Chronicles and Psalms, still have something to get excited about.

It’s our latest project at STORY called One Thousand Premieres. One Thousand Premieres is a faith-prompted, grassroots campaign to make an epic retelling of the Biblical story of David and Goliath called Four Stones. Individuals, churches and organizations who value faith stories (and value translating those stories into media for this generation) can help make the production possible by booking a license fee to gift the film to their communities.

We at STORY often sit on the edge of our theater seats, basking in the creative glow that comes out of Hollywood. But this time, we want to be part of the game. This is our faith. And this is our faith story. And we want to be part of telling it.

Do you?

As Hollywood continues tapping film content they can market to the faith community, we could really use your help underscoring that film success can also work in the other direction.

The best way to help is to host a premiere–for as little as $99 for 14 people in your living room or as much as $999 for unlimited viewers on premiere weekend. And to make sure this film is a global event, accessible to all, when you book a mid or large size premiere this month, STORY will give a live stream link to a community or village in the developing world too.

You can find out more at www.onethousandpremieres.com. Also, you can find us on Twitter (@1000premieres) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/1000premieres).

And if you’re really passionate about this–and can give some serious time, energy or finances toward making this goal a reality–we’d love for you to visit the Resources section of onethousandadvocates.com or drop me an email at sarah (at) storychicago (dot) com.

[[The director of this upcoming film, Santino Stoner, the producer, Ben Arment, and myself, the production coordinator, will all be converging in Chicago for STORY on September 15th-16th. Get your tickets before they sell out HERE.]]

my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like
this. Please let me know if you run into anything.
