Memorial Day Brain Dump

  • This past weekend, we shot a short film for the STORY opener in Charlotte.
  • Well…not we. Jared Hogan and crew were the ones large and in charge behind  the cameras. Brewster, Ben and I  just drooled a lot over the stunning camera shots.
  • Ben and I both had our families in for the weekend. For the record, there is not an Arment out there who isn’t beautiful inside and out.
  • My birthday is on Memorial Day. When I was little, I used to think the parades were for me. This year, it was the Nascar races (in NC). Not. the. same.
  • On my birthday DAY, I was stuck in an airport for a couple hours…but thanks to my iphone, I felt like I had several hundred people with me. It was like being a contestant on that ollllllld show, This is your life, as I watched a bunch of high school, undergrad, and college classmates, former teachers, former students, current and former co-workers, church peeps and so on chime in birthday wishes via Facebook wall posts, DMs and calls…
  • Friendships ebb and flow in life. But I am blessed by the stability of so many who’ve hung in there for…years…even decades… now.
  • My 15 year high school class reunion is this summer. Some classes hold banquets at fancy dining halls. Us? We’re picnicking by a local pond all afternoon and night…literally, it’s sleepover style for those who want to stay.
  • Can you tell I come from community?
  • In other news, I found out I got pinkslipped this week by…reading the paper. The letter came two days later.
  • The good news? Our superintendent estimates about half of those pinkslipped will be called back.
  • Alterna-good news: even if I’m cut off completely, I have a beautiful 2 year old and some exciting projects to stay home with. Sitting pretty.
  • This summer, STORY will be hosting some Michigan area meetups for creatives.  Look for me to join the ever talented David Wenzel to welcome creatives in the Grand Rapids area. And, if you live the Detroit way, keep your eye on myself and Mohan Karulkar and company for a Motown meetup.
  • My brother and I are officially business owners. Raymond Cunningham LLC, our corporation, is about to take on a new assumed name. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities. More soon…
  • You should see the articles coming across my desk this week. Even the program for STORY is inspiring.
  • Headed to Dream Year Weekend in D.C. this weekend.
  • 5 days of school left with students, plus a record day.
  • It’s hard not to smile when SUMMER. IS. AROUND. THE. CORNER.
